Trip to Internaut orphanage

We had the opportunity to be at the Internaut orphanage today for a presentation about drug addiction, which is a part of Global Action's outreach in Kerch. Working in cooperation with a drug rehabilitation center here, a young man gave a presentation on the realities of drug use. Through still photos and video, the young people saw the harsh truth about the effects of drugs. Very graphic and startling, it nevertheless demonstrated the terrible destructiveness of drugs. It was evident from the reactions of the audience that they were struck by the images, as were we all. A young man who was addicted to drugs for ten years and went through the rehabilitation center shared his testimony of his life before drugs and his life in recovery, including coming to Christ. The program has been endorsed by the City officials, who have urged all the schools to include this program in their curriculum. The series of programs includes not only teaching on drugs, but also alcohol, abortion, trafficking and prostitution. Tough issues for sure, but such needed programs that are truthful about these destructive matters but present true hope and freedom in Christ. Our intern, Lori, has been working with a group of teenage girls at Internaut, and they were most happy to see her today.
